Get-Togethers

A little get-together next to Prestvannet after Jan completes his thesis presentation. It was chilly (and this was June 10)!

Three photos above were taken in the chemistry lounge after master's student Jan gave his presentation. There is always cake for such occasions.

This is the last get-together at the international students' cafe, which is called the "Bodega." Once a month throughout the year they offer free waffles (Norwegian waffles are served with butter, jam, chocolate spread, cheese ... they're really good!) and hot beverages. Students volunteer to work there, and there is lots of loud music and a mingling of many languages.

Jo-elle (again--not sure about spelling) stopped by to say good-bye before leaving for home.

We invited our Italian neighbors Jo-elle (sorry! I don't know how to spell his name!) and Alberto over for a meal. Before I arrived, Alberto showed Mike around the island, and they both invited him to get-togethers in the hostel, so he wouldn't be so lonely. Jo-elle is returning to Italy to finish his degree (psych) at the University of Bologna (so he's attended the oldest university and the northern-most university!), and Alberto is remaining to finish his degree (anthropology) here in Tromsø.

These are just some photos of various get-togethers. With the end of the semester, many are returning to their home countries. We didn't get photos of Sarah and Christophe. He drove from Germany (4 or 5 days) to pick her up and drive back home. They planned to take a couple of weeks to drive back.
