Fort & Fountains

Later in the afternoon on our first day in Kristiansand, Odd and Karen-Mai took us for a walk across the river and along the sea. Before crossing the bridge, we saw the beautiful old building where their son Erik, who is an architect, has an office. After crossing the bridge, which goes over the river Otra, we walked a short distance to the seaside, along which is a pedestrian park-type area, where many (many) boats are moored. In the 1600s, King Kristian IV, founder of the city, had a round fort built. Only the roof is new. Inside now is a museum, and other functions, like concerts, are held there as well. There were some beautiful fountains built near the fort. It is a very pleasant place for people to enjoy the day and the scenery.
