At the international student outing we got into conversation with some students from Pakistan, and we started talking about how much we like Indian food (and that nice Indian restaurant in West Lafayette--Bombay on South River Road--go see Julie and Matt, and get them to take you there!), so they offered to come over and cook for us. We ended up with the three guys from Pakistan (one is actually Norwegian ... but that's a long story), two girls from Poland, one girl from Germany and one girl from India. We had meatballs made with Seekh Kebab spice mix (rather hot to me--but tasty!), a chickpea dish, a rice dish with lots of carmelized onions, a mixed-vegetable dish (one of the guys is a vegetarian), and a traditional drink called lassi which is made with yogurt. There was so much food, and it was all very good. We provided desert—cookies, cake, and ice cream—which went over well. They brought their laptop so we could have appropriate music. It was fun.
