Feed the Birds

Starting in the spring, and all through the summer, Tromso is teeming with ducks and seagulls. At the lake near us, Prestvannet, people often come to feed the birds. One evening, we took some bread over and Mike fed the birds. You can tell it's summer because he's wearing shorts (and a jacket--and as I recall, he was a bit cold).

Fern, Flora and Blue-Eyed Susan

This variety of fern grows about 3 feet tall.

This is one of several varieties of ground cover.

Huge lilac bush (tree?) blooming in mid-July.

Picture above, and three below are of the "Tromso palm." It's an imported species that sort of "went wild." The flower part looks like a huge Queen Anne's Lace, and the leaves look like, well, palm leaves. They grow very tall--6 to 7 feet. These pictures were taken looking over the side of a bridge along the roadway.

All summer long we took pictures of the wild flowers that grow all over the island. Seems appropriate that I should finally get these posted, since today, Sept. 29, it is snowing on the green grass and the orange/yellow leaves. Anyway, June and July are especially beautiful with several varieties of ferns and masses of flowers everywhere.
