Pressvannet

Hi everyone,

As I walk around this beautiful place, I am discovering new and wonderful sights. I wish Mary were here to enjoy them with me, but she will be here in just a few weeks.

Very close by the hostel is a lake and wildlife preserve called Prestvannet. It is a beautiful and serene place. I am planning to take Mary there often for weekend picnics. Enjoy these pictures. I will run several postings to get them all up.

Grotfjord-Part 2

Here are some more pictures of Grotfjord.

Grotfjord

Hi everyone,

I am really behind on posting some of these pictures. The last event of the International Students Orientation Week was a wonderful outing to Grotfjord, on the adjacent island of Kvaloya(Whale Island). The scenery there is even more awesome than around Tromsoya(the island I'm on). Enjoy part one of Grotfjord

Telegrafbukta

Hi everyone,

Today I am posting some pictures I took last week when we had a picnic at the Folkeparken at Telegrafbukta, near the University's museum, on the southern end of the island. The scenery is, once again, breathtaking. I cannot wait to show all of these sights to Mary when she arrives, hopefully very soon. Enjoy these pictures.

University of Tromso

Hi everyone,

Today I am going to post some photos of the University of Tromso, the northernmost university in the world. It is, after all, the reason I am here. The first picture is taken just a few yards from the apartment. The next is a sign from the science building, followed by the science building itself-I'll be on the 4th floor. Next is the Administration building, followed by a photo of the ski jumps-after all, it is Norway. Enjoy

Domkirke-the Cathedral

Hi everyone,

As I try to update this blog, and post pictures of this beautiful place(only 5 at a time allowed it seems), I will try to break down by topic the pictures that I have taken. This post is about the cathedral in downtown Tromso. It is a beautiful structure, both inside and out, as you will see. Enjoy.

Downtown Tromso

Hi everyone,

As I begin to settle in, and having met with my research advisor to plan out my master's program, I'd thought I'd just post some photos of the main center of Tromso, called Centrum. This block of pictures will focus on Torget, the open air market. For you non-norwegian speakers, reker is shrimp and jordbaer are strawberries. The statue is of King Haakon VII. Enjoy.

more landscapes

Hi everyone,

It looks like I can't get any captions yet on the photos, but as I seem to be able to upload only five at a time, we'll make do. Here are some more scenes around the island.
